Effective January 1, 2026, WSR is instituting a change to our fee policy.

WSR has never charged launch fees. Our source of funding has been club membership dues. In the past, however, if you were not a club member and you want to fly high power, we would ask you to join the club so that your membership dues could help support the maintenance of the HPR equipment. With the significant uptick in the number of people from outside the club coming to do high-power certification flights, WSR is now formalizing this policy. We accept and encourage flyers to come to us for certification flights.

The fee policy is as follows:

Individuals intending to fly high power with WSR, whether for a certification flight or a regular high power flight, are now required to join WSR at the cost of $10 for the year. This covers you and your entire family for the calendar year. If you join in November or December, your membership will cover those months and the following calendar year. This WSR membership is a standard, unrestricted membership, and it entitles you to vote on any important club business and participate in special events like our Christmas Banquet.

WSR membership is separate from your normal NAR or Tripoli membership fee. You must be a current NAR or Tripoli member to fly high power, unless specifically exempted (e.g. NASA Student Launch and IREC teams launching a rocket for that purpose).

WSR will collect your name, email and phone number, NAR or TRA number, and certification level and we will issue you a digital WSR ID card.

NOTE: WSR does not charge launch fees for low power launches and does not require you to join the club. However, if you are not an NAR member, you are limited to flying D impulse motors. You must be an NAR member to fly E and above impulse at WSR launches.
