Our onsite  motor vendor is Merlin Missile Solutions. If you have a specific need (including high power motors, reloads or casings), please contact Lee Berry well in advance of the launch at lee.berry@merlinmissiles.com. 

NOTE: All launches and events are held as weather and field conditions permit. The WSR Board reserves the right to reschedule, terminate, or to cancel any event, without notice. We generally try to make a Go/No Go decision by 8pm the night before an event. Please monitor our Groups.io mail service and our Facebook page on event days for changes or cancelations.

January 28 (Tue) – NMUSAF Restoration Hangar & Archives Tour RESCHEDULED (TENTATIVE)
NMUSAF. 1:30-4pm. You must make reservations with Randy for this event and it is capped at 20 spots, which are filling quickly. Anyone going must be prepared to provide ID at all times. No food other than a water bottle; no knives or weapons just like in the Museum. Meet inside of the museum at 1:30. The tour will start at 2pm in Building 5 with our Collections, Exhibit, and Research divisions.  We will have approximately an hour in that building and then head over to Hangar 4 to tour with Restoration until about 4:00. Pictures are generally permitted (you will be told if you cannot for any particular area or artifact), but you cannot touch anything. We will then head back to the museum. There will be a van provided by the museum for the first 15 people to register. If there are more than 15 people, an additional volunteer driver with established base clearance credentials will be needed to get them onto the base at the Area B Gate. This is a very special trip that is currently not open to the public.  If we use all of the spots we will schedule and additional tour in the future.

February 15-16 (Sat-Sun) – TechFest Dayton 2025
Sinclair College, Building 12. 10am-5pm both days. WSR meets and greets STEM students and teachers to get them interested in rocketry and shows them how we can make integrating rocketry into their curriculum can be easy and effective. We’ll also be doing motor demonstrations every hour and this year we’ll be adding a space for students to build air rockets at the booth to be flown outside. There will also be a build & fly (weather permitting) both days at 1pm, so please let Randy know if you can assist with this specifically. If you plan on coming you can bring 1 or 2 of your very best rockets that showcase what students can expect to see along their rockery journey. Setup is on Friday evening. Please wear WSR shirts (or other rocketry-related shirts) if you have them.

4254 E Lower Springboro Rd, Waynesville, OH. 1130am-2pm Wednesday (40 people) and 930am-2pm Thursday (15 people with an hour break in the middle). Jonathan’s Physics class is launching LPR rockets and he is asking for your help in setting up the field and demonstrating how to prep rockets for flight. Jonathan will be at Build Night on the 11th asking for volunteers and giving more details.

March 16 (Sun) – The Big Hoopla STEM Challenge
Wright State University Student Union, 3640 Colonel Glenn Hwy, Fairborn, OH 45324. Noon-5pm. WSR will have a display booth and will be assisting visitors with building and launching mini air rockets. 

March 22 (Sat) – The Ohio Cup
NMUSAF. Flight window 10am-3pm; setup at 9am. There is no weather make-up date. Ohio teams participating in The American Rocketry Challenge have been invited to the National Museum of the US Air Force to fly practice and qualification flights. MANY VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED. Contact Randy or Dave if you’re available.

The event starts at Chez Zachman, 136 N Front Street, Ripley OH for a BBQ lunch. Then the Class 1 (G impulse limit) day launch begins at Moran-McCaughey Range on Howland Rd. Launch opens at 1pm. Then we return to the Zachman home for pizza, and afterward we head back out to the field for the night launch. Rain date May 4.
